Overarching- Final Review

These last 13 years have flown by so quickly. Collingwood has truly embraced me as a member of the family and I have learned so much from the school. My growth as an individual has been tremendous in every strand since the days of being in grade 10. I have really matured and come into my own. Collingwood has always pushed its students to be well rounded. The four-strand system is a great way to encourage this and I am so thankful for it. Without the four-strand system I would never have tried choir or art or surf and service, but thanks to Collingwood these turned out to be some of my favorite classes and experiences. My most proud achievement is finishing the college application process. For those wishing to go to the states, the process is tiresome to say the least. I am so happy to be done and look forward to what the future holds for me. If there is one thing I could change about the way I completed my high school, it would be to learn to play an instrument. I have grown up in a very arts oriented family but I was never super passionate about it. As I look back now it was probably my jealousy/laziness that actually held me back from excelling. Collingwood has truly prepared me for the future. Being a house captain, part of the investment club, part of numerous sports teams, traveling with Roundsquare; all these things aided me in my growth as a person but it was Collingwood that truly brought them to reality. I wouldn’t have thought in my wildest dreams that I would be representing my school in London and meeting the Queen. These experiences have allowed me to see a whole new world and have given me the tools to be successful in years to come. I hope I will be able to properly apply them in the near future. In 5 years from now I hope to be graduating university and preparing for future studies at law school. Through taking law this year I have learnt how valuable it is and how it can be directly associated in real life scenarios. In the end the ultimate goal is to one day return to Vancouver, start a family and send them to this amazing school. I have known nothing but this for my entire life, but Collingwood has prepared me in the best way to be able to go out in the world and be successful. I owe a huge thank you to all my coaches, teachers, advisors, and heads of the school, without this great support system I don’t know where I would be.
