Grade 12 Athletics

Athletic Highlight: My grade 12 athletic highlight was playing on the Collingwood senior basketball team. We were able to make Collingwood history by finishing 11th in the province which is the best the school has ever done.

Athletic Highlight #2: Rugby tour was once again an academic highlight for me. We toured all over australia and it was a blast to be a part of. This was not a very successful tour but we gained plenty of experience and we hope this will aid us in winning a BC provincial championships.

Athletic Highlight #3: My third athletic highlight was winning the lower mainland rugby finals against Rockridge. This was a great team win and despite not playing due to a concussion, the team played great and i was happy to see rockridge loose after all their trash talking.

Athletic Reflection: This year was a great year to be a collingwood athlete. The collingwood basketball team was able to attend provincials for the first time in 7years. Unfortunately before arriving, our starting point guard, Aidan Jarrar, was diagnosed with mono. It was also an unfortunate start of the tournament for me as i was just recovering from a minor tear in my gastroc muscle. Nevertheless we overcame this adversity by winning our first game against Wellington School, the number 3 seeded team in the tournament.   Despite this victory we knew what lay ahead of us. Earlier in the year we had played Kelowna Christian a powerhouse in AA basketball. But what scared us the most was a dominant Holly Cross team. Lucky for us both teams were in our side of the bracket, despite both teams being undefeated all year. We then played Kelowna Christian academy, this was no doubt the most embarasing game to be apart of. Our thin bench finally came back to haunt us, with Aidan out, and my injury we lost by a large margin. This killed our Provincial hopes. We then played SMUS, a team we had also played earlier in the year. This game was much closer but again we lost.  FInishing 11th was a great feat for us. We were extremely happy to finish the tournament as the best team in Collingwoods history. I was very thankful for being on such an amazing team and winning the Player of the Game award for the last 2 games was a great way to finish my basketball career, mr hill is a great coach and i recommend all students to go and try out playing for the team.
